Five Reasons To Send Your Children To Private High Schools In Mississauga

If you are considering alternatives the public or Catholic school systems in Mississauga, the private high schools in the area offer a compelling array of options for you to ponder in your decision-making process. Here are what I consider to be the top five.

1. Enhanced Academic Opportunities
An OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) will take your child a long way after high school graduation, and every graduate of an accredited high school in Ontario receives an OSSD. Ontario public school graduates have attended nearly every prestigious university in the Western world. But most parents aren’t overly concerned about what other students have done in the past, they are more concerned about what opportunities exist for their student in the present. Graduates from private high schools in Mississauga are routinely regarded as being “first among equals” when it comes to the OSSD. Whether an admissions counselor is willing to go on record to admit it or not, you’ll rarely find a university admissions officer that wouldn’t prefer to have a private school graduate at their university over a public school graduate with all other factors being equal.

And that isn’t even factoring in other academic enhancements such as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme (which some private and public schools in Mississauga offer.) Well-recognized curriculum enhancements are common among the local private schools. If you’re looking to get your student positioned at the head of the line for university enrollment, having a private school diploma with an enhancement such as IB in hand is perhaps the best way to get there.

2. Parental Involvement
When parents are paying Mississauga private high school fees each month, they tend to be reminded that their children’s education is something worth getting involved in. Private schools, in return, are generally much more accepting of the idea of parents being at the school in an active role. The more that parents know about what is actually going on at school, the better they are able to engage their student and encourage them to excel. Parents who are more involved in their child’s high school also tend to have stronger relationships with their teens. They may not always like the idea of Mom or Dad being there, but they can’t help but notice that these parents care.

3. Safe, Community Environment
Bullying, fights and political agendas are notorious features of the public school system. Many public high schools today employ security guards or routinely have police presence on hand. An emphasis on school community is rarely encouraged in the public school system, whereas it is quite common to find in private high schools in Mississauga. Schools like St. Jude’s Academy and Holy Name of Mary, for instance, go out of their way to create a sense of community within the school by making use of the “house system” made famous by the Harry Potter books and movies. By seeing other students as part of your community, students are much more inclined to help each other than to bully each other, which makes the school a much safer place. A safe school is the ideal environment for learning. Students struggle to perform when they are also concerned about their safety while at school. Visit Original Source.

Where are Summer Camps for Kids in Brampton?

There are seemingly endless choices for summer camps for kids that it can be difficult to know what is best for your child. When trying to make sense of the many options that are available, one of the top considerations kept in mind should be the curriculum that will be offered at the camp. Parents should watch for the difference in camps that do the same thing each day with little to no educational value, and compare those to the camps that go above and beyond with what they offer to their participants. Starting at a young age and going all the way up to summer programs for high school, choosing the right camps for your kids is a key concern for parents who are eager to make the most of the summer months.

St. Jude’s Academy is pleased to offer several strong summer camp programs that kids of all age groups love. One of the main draws of our camp for both parents and students is the unique and varied activities that we offer, as opposed to camps with a small list of standard activities. Even some of the most expensive boarding school summer programs in the area don’t match our own curriculum. Our summer camps are filled with all the sports, arts and crafts, music, and other traditional camp activities that kids long for, and are supplemented by our unique and innovative activities that keep participants coming back again and again. A sample of some of our best-loved, creative activities for kids are:

•    Gardening – Students learn to plant their own seeds and tend to their own herb gardens, while being taught basic science lessons on how plants grow. This type of hands-on activity helps drive home the academic portion of the lesson in a way that simply reading a textbook cannot. Students gain confidence and enjoy the sense of pride that comes from caring for a small plant.

•    Cooking – Each Friday, our campers have the valuable opportunity to take on the role of baker, and concoct delicious treats in our kitchen. Kids of all ages love taking part in food preparation, and are eager to share their new skills with their families at home. Creating something in the kitchen is a very satisfying endeavour, especially when the finished products are delicious baked goods.

•    Nature explorationPrivate schools in Brampton and Mississauga are fortunate to be located within beautiful, scenic surroundings. Kids who grow up in Ontario have so much nature at their fingertips, and St. Jude’s Academy summer camp is the perfect programme to help them explore that beauty. From nature walks to creating bird feeders for the local bird species, participants learn first-hand about the wonders of their natural environment.

With just a glimpse at some of our most popular activities it’s easy to see why children delight in their experience at St. Jude’s Academy summer camps. Parents who wish to see their kids enjoy the fun of summer while simultaneously gaining an education of superior quality are encouraged to enroll your kids in one, or more, of our adventure-filled camp sessions.

Out With Boondoggles, In With Learning at Kids Summer Camp

Parents want the best experiences for their children year-round, especially during the summer break. Kids summer camp is the most preferred option for getting children out of the house and doing something active, instead of wasting the summer away watching television or sitting on the sofa all day long. The trouble lies in the quality of camps that are available, and they run the gamut from subpar to stellar programmes. At St. Jude’s Academy, our private school foundation allows us to create enriching school holiday camps that are above and beyond the average summer programs. Some of the outstanding features that set our camps apart from other less-successful community summer programmes include:

•    Better instructors – We pride ourselves on providing the best and brightest minds to educate children, just as we do at our private school. At our kid's school holiday camp, we select leaders who are well-rounded, inquisitive, and patient. Our instructors share a genuine love for working with children and helping them to learn, grow, and develop to their fullest potential, all while having fun at the same time. We encourage our instructors to contribute their ideas for holiday activities that they excel in and are passionate about teaching to our participants.

•    Great facilities – Kids who attend our school holiday programmes have access to the same state-of-the-art facilities that our students enjoy year-round. Our school grounds are the perfect setting for our summer camps where kids enjoy access to our gymnasium and sport court, outdoor spaces, kitchen area, cafeteria, and spaces for working on art, music, and science. Many community camps lack the vital resources that we can offer to our young campers.

•    Expertly-designed curriculum – While it’s important for kids to play, have fun, and enjoy being a kid, we strongly believe that they can do this while also learning and developing their minds. Unlike the many camps that focus solely on filling the day with any activity, our programmes are carefully curated to provide kids with a great balance each day that they attend our camp. Our summer holiday activities are designed to expose children to new ideas and concepts and also give them a chance to explore a diverse range of subjects. Our multi-disciplinary approach makes each day fun and exciting for our participants’ young minds.

•    A name you can trust – St. Jude’s Summer camp for kids are backed up by our strong reputation. As a leader in private school education, we draw on our strong roots in education and focus our expertise on delivering the best experiences for your children. St. Jude’s camps come with the same quality of education that our regular private school does, and we are a name that parents can rely on for creating a great environment for their children.

St. Jude’s Academy summer camps provides kids with a fun and adventure-filled way to spend their school holiday, where they are provided with the opportunity to grow and learn without sacrificing quality. With the many resources we have at our disposal, we create programmes that let kids enjoy every moment of their summer break with the most fun and fulfilling camp around.

How to get into Private Elementary Schools in Mississauga

In March 2017, parents in Brampton experienced hours of lining up in the freezing cold weather in hopes of registering their children for a well- reputed Catholic high school. Similar situations happen to parents in Mississauga all the time.  To give their children the best chance, they are willing to do everything. Private schools are becoming a popular option for parents who are afraid of failing their children by public education system, some parents start picking private elementary schools in Mississauga before they are even pregnant.

As we all know, early childhood education is critical to a child’s development. The early experiences they have, the bonds they form with their parents, and first learning experiences, would have significant influence in their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. It is safe to assume that children who attend the private elementary schools are more prepared for their middle school grade levels and the upcoming challenges. Unlike public schools, private schools do not admit children who live within their boundaries, best private elementary schools welcome students whoever fit with the school’s teaching philosophies and spirits. A good early childhood education is possibly the most valuable investment with largest return that parents can give to their children to ensure their future success.

Parents start picking best elementary schools before they are even pregnant not for no reasons. There is a lot to consider finding the perfect fit for your child: the personality of the child, his or her learning strengths and weakness, and the family’s values and expectations. Other important factors may include the community, locations, gender, school sizes. Generally, private schools offer smaller class sizes so that teachers can give each student more attentions, which leads to the higher tuition fees (Mississauga private school fees vary from $12,000 to $34,335, annually, depending on the grade level). Budget is an important attribute for some people, but never forget that the need of your child should always be the priority in front of everything. After narrowing down your selections into five options, it is important to consult the admission offices of the schools you are considering because some schools do need you to start some preparation up to one years in advance. Depending on the age of your child(ren), an entrance exam may be expected. Not every private elementary school in Mississauga requires an entrance exam, so it should not be too big a worry for parents, and more importantly, it should never be a pressure for your children!

After the submission of application, there is not much to do, except for waiting to hear back from the school. Keep in mind that the schools you applied for are not your only options. There are always more choices out there, no matter it is a private school, public school, Catholic school or whatever. Going to an elementary school or a middle school is just one step in your child’s life, it has certain degree of significance but can never be compared to the importance of parenting. Committing to lining up in the cold weather to get into the best school is just a statement of love for the child. As long as the love is there, no matter what school you can afford for the children to go to, they are lucky to have you as parent.

The various types of Private Schools to choose from

Private school in Mississauga are many and varied, with a set of advantages unique to each, allowing you to choose a school according to the specific needs of your child.
Here is an overview of the most common private school types and categories you may be choosing from. The first decision you will have to make is boarding or day school.

Boarding Schools. This type of school provides lodging for their students and faculty, essentially creating an encapsulated community dedicated to the purpose of teaching and educating children. This system has been considered as reserved for the elite and even outdated, until recently. Boarding schools have become affordable in recent years and are coming back as a viable alternative for day schools. The immersive environment gives a more controlled and in-depth education experience, which can be an advantage both in terms of results and in allowing out-of-town students to attend (which they wouldn’t be able to do otherwise).

Day Schools. This type of Mississauga private school is more common than the boarding school, and is more affordable and accessible as well. They come in many shapes and sizes, with special curriculums and different types of environments. They have one common trait - kids go to school in the morning, and back home after class. The advantage of this is that kids remain in touch with their neighborhood friends and family, keeping their socializing natural and uninterrupted.

How to Choose a Good Private School

After giving much thought to the matter, you have come to a conclusion that you want to send your kids to a private school. There are many private schools in Mississauga and Brampton to choose from.
But how do you know which one to choose? We hope that after you’re finished reading the following post, the seemingly daunting decision will be made much, much simpler.

Here’s how you go about it.

First, write down a list of aspects you want to see in the new school. After that, ask your child to do the same. Now compare between the two. The resulting (much shorter) list will be narrowed down version, with which you’ll be able to proceed to the next level.

Important aspects to consider might vary greatly, but from our experience, you’ll be looking at things like class / study group size, an intimate approach during the transition period, gender separation, religious programs and education level.

Order your options by level of their importance. There is a developed network of private education in the GTA, but only some of the schools will work well for you and your family.

So first you rule out private schools that that don’t answer your basic criteria, like distance to the school and whether or not the school provides lodgings, or has certain other traits, such as religious studies and church.

Finally, check out the availability of extracurricular activities which might interest your child during his/her school years. It may be sports, a debate club or anything else in this category.

Private Schooling in Mississauga - A Brief Synopsis for Newcomers

In addition to spacious parks, new neighborhoods, an amazing waterfront and other great features and attractions, Mississauga Ontario offers a generous variety of private schools for its residents.

Unlike central Toronto, Mississauga is more adapted to family life and is favored by those who wish to settle into comfortable half - suburban living. The private schools in Mississauga are many and varied, more than we can recount in this brief synopsis, but what we can do is give you an overview of what to expect.
The Advantages of Choosing a Private School in Mississauga

The best private schools in Mississauga are varied, each with it’s own unique advantages, but they all have two common benefits:

Small Class Sizes. Size is one of the most important benefits of the private school classroom. The teeming, chaotic environment of a public school classroom is not very conducive to efficient teaching, or learning. The private school allows a more personalized experience for your child, where the teacher has the time to address his or her needs individually.

Great Extra Value. The private school student has a better chance to grow into a well-rounded individual, with extra-curricular activities, better adjusted curriculum and diverse in-class projects.

Private education in the GTA and Canada in general has always been a long standing tradition, but were not as popular in the last few decades. This is changing rapidly now.

Why Parents In Canada Prefer Private School Education For Their Children

Private education has always been popular in Canada, but recent years have seen a very significant rise in its popularity.

And not without some very good reasons.

The thing is that private education is head and shoulders ahead of what public schools have to offer, in more or less every respect. Let’s examine the main aspects that make private schools mississauga a superior choice for your children’s education.
Private high schools in Mississauga are Generally Better

Private schools have less budgeting and staffing difficulties than a public one. Public schools have typically larger classrooms, making teaching far less efficient. Private Schools are typically less constrained by those considerations and can afford to hire better teaching staff to teach in smaller groups using better teaching equipment.

Reasons Why Universities Prefer International Baccalaureate School Students

Modern life is full of competition. We compete to be the best students, the best professionals, the best co-workers. We compete for a new job or for improving our positions within our current employment.
In many ways, life is all about competition.

One of the more important challenges your child will go through is competing with other applicants for a University admission.

This is why so many people recognize the importance of academic education, which in turn gives Universities a large pool of applicants to choose from.

The best way for your child to raise his or her chances of being accepted to a University is to study in an international baccalaureate (IB) program during his or her school years.

Are IB Graduates More Successful In Life?

When looking for the most fitting school for your child, you will find that IB schools in Mississauga offer a comprehensive course of learning that is meant to expose a child to a globalized learning, with an exposure to a worldwide culture and a programme of ethics, as well as standard book learning. This type of curriculum is a bit different than most schools you will find in Canada and elsewhere, but the IB course of learning offers many advantages for students. If you’re considering an International Baccalaureate school in Canada but aren’t sure if it’s the right choice for your child, note a few factors to consider as to why this programme may be the most beneficial for any student.

Practical application

One thing you will notice about all the programmes offered by IB schools in Mississauga is that they advise students to consider a practical application of the materials and information they’re learning. This can mean applying their math skills to real world math problems, or applying the information they’re learning in history to today’s culture and current events. Without being able to apply your learning to something practical, a student will just memorize information that means little to them and which has no contribution to success later in life. Early Ontario University Acceptances at St. Jude's Academy- Class of 2017

In June 2017, St. Jude's Academy, one of the best schools in Mississauga, will have its first ever graduating grade 12 class. To date, numerous students have already earned early offers of admission in both Science and Business programs at Waterloo, Queens and York University! With the high standards that St. Jude's Academy sustains for its scholars, we expect that our students will continue to receive acceptances to their top post-secondary programs of choice during the next several months.

For all families, whether they have enrolled their child in one of the best prep schools in Mississauga or the public school education system, university applications are an exciting and nerve racking time. Here are some things to consider for parents, who are preparing their children for the university application process.

St. Jude's Academy: Preparing for graduation at one of the best private schools in Mississauga
Most students in the Class of 2017 have attended St. Jude's Academy since Grade 9. Over the course of their high school education, they have gained invaluable skills and knowledge that will help them succeed in post-secondary education. Like other private high schools in Mississauga, high standards of excellence have rigorously prepared them for post-secondary education.

To ensure that the students were promptly prepared for their university applications, as soon as September 2016 rolled around, the Grade 12’s began working diligently with their teachers and their Guidance Department. They collected information about their post-secondary programs of interest, in both US and the Canadian universities, and also enjoyed a visit to the Ontario Universities’ Fair and participating in the US College Expo.

Some general advice was provided to all of our families during their application process:
  • Whether you're coming out of a public or private high school, check each university's application requirements
  • Be prepared to apply online.
  • Check each school's application deadline

Perks of Attending a Mississauga Private High School

Thinking about putting your child into a private high school near you? As you consider different institutions, here are some perks of private education to consider.

Subject Specialization

The biggest benefit of private high schools in Mississauga Ontario is the particularized teaching methodologies offered at some of these schools. For students with a strong interest in a specific subject area, be it the arts or STEM, entering a private high school can be beneficial. While public education allows students to try a variety of subjects at moderate to an advanced degree of difficulty, many private schools in Ontario operate under the strength of one subject area in their curriculum. Whether this means sending a budding young musician to a school for the arts, or a tech whiz into a school with a stellar computer science department, private education may give your child an early on leg up on the competition in their fields of interest.

Smaller Class Size

A study on class size by educational researchers Bruce Biddle and David Berliner in 2002 confirmed that smaller class sizes lead to better average student performance on academic achievement tests. Private schools vary greatly in their population size, but almost all aim to achieve smaller class size than public schools, in order to individually help students build up their strengths and brush up on their weaknesses. Parents who are passionate about education are often eager to begin a search for the best private schools in Mississauga for their children. However, before applying to a private school, here are some things to consider:

Most Mississauga Private Schools Require Tuition

Your family's ability to afford tuition should be an important deciding factor when deciding private or public education. A sample across Canada confirms that the annual tuition for private schools can range between $5,750 to $30,000, annually. Families should accordingly decide if paying an annual tuition fee is a possibility per their financial situation. Other factors to consider while picking the right private schools would include the financial-aid availability, commute options, and the accessibility of the school.

Do you have the time to research and apply to multiple institutions?

The process of choosing a private school in Mississauga is a full-time commitment. To make sure that you and your child are investing into quality education, parents should thoroughly research each prospective institution. Some things to explore include the qualifications of prospective teachers, a school's social atmosphere, and their teaching methods. How to Apply to a Private School in Mississauga

Before Applying

Before choosing a school, it is essential to investigate the available options. A web search will help you acquaint yourself with the best private schools in Mississauga. It is imperative to develop a sense of shared educational philosophy with your school of interest. When looking to apply to a private school in Mississauga, note that most institutions in the area have a school website that can provide you with a decent starting impression. This step should be completed early, ideally a year in advance of school applications.

School Visits

Once you've explored your options, visit the schools that seem compatible with your child. This will help you narrow your choices. Taking advantage of a school's open house is a great way to determine a suitable setting.

The Application Process

After visiting and shortlisting the schools, the application process can begin. The application for most Mississauga private schools typically consists of a written request describing your child's personality, their academic history (for older students), your financial situation, and your family history, followed by an in-person interview, and an entrance exam (for older students).

In order to establish a successful fit between the school and the potential candidates, it is highly recommended by the admission advisors to practise transparency while filling out the applications. This includes any information about learning disabilities, behavioural issues, and performance at the previous schools if applicable. The best private school in Mississauga offers accommodation for a wide variety of learning styles. Once a school fully understands your child’s learning needs, it is better equipped to provide the tools necessary for his or her education. For more detail please visit Original Source...

How Many Private Schools in Mississauga Should Your Child Apply To?

Whether you are applying for an older child or are considering placing a young student into a private schools within Mississauga area, searching for the right institution can be an exciting yet daunting experience. Sometimes, simply choosing which schools to send queries to can be stressful. Here's some information to keep in mind, as you and your child begin your application process.
The most basic misunderstanding parents have about getting their children into private school is that lots of applications need to be sent out in order to receive an acceptance. However, education consultant Judy Winberg of Options Education notes that "applying to too many schools can get stressful," for both parents and children. Creating an excessive list of applications to complete creates an avoidable stressor on children. Moreover, given the fact that typical private schools in Mississauga requires an application fee, the financial strain of private school applications can create an extra burden on parents.

As a result, most education experts suggest only applying to two to five private schools that rank high on your preference list. Focusing you and your child's energy into a small number of prospects, rather than casting a wide net ensures that quality can be inputted in a few competitive schools' applications. As a result, an application shprivate school in mississaugaould ideally only be sent out to a Mississauga private school, if the institution matches your family's needs. Winberg also notes that more than one application certainly should be sent out, as it is unfortunate if a child is denied admission to private education altogether because of a single rejection.
